Musculoskeletal Specialists and Physicians
Independent Objective Evaluation of the Cervical Spine post injury.
Conservative measures such as manipulations, mobilizations and soft tissue therapy may only provide short term relief for some patients suffering chronic neck pain. These patients may then be referred to YOUR rooms for specialist opinion. Often a patient’s options include surgical measures. Post surgical rehabilitation can then be referred to the Melbourne Whiplash Centre for a personalised and supervised neck rehabilitation program.
Pre-Surgery
Specific tailored exercises for the Cervical Spine can prepare these patients for surgery by improving existing function. We can also provide objective baseline figures for range of motion (ROM) and isometric strength in 16 different positions.
Post Surgery
Post surgical rehabilitation will be monitored closely by our specialists at the Melbourne Whiplash Centre in conjunction with recommendations from the surgeon.
Once appropriate, a patient will commence manual therapy in combination with gentle functional movements of the Cervical Spine to improve joint range of motion. This is then later progressed to strengthening exercises for one or all of the Cervical Flexors, Extensors and Lateral Flexors.
